About the Demonstration
Here are some notes I took. Not exactly a set of instructions but then you're all fabulous woodturners and can work it out! Take a look at Kevin's drawing. (click on the images to make them bigger) Turn a wood base on faceplate with wood block ( or chuck)
Cut recess for stem
Shape surround
Turn stem round
Tenon for chuck
Tidy end
25mm hole with forstner bit in Jacobs chuck.
Gouge out drilled hole to about 5mm deep
Trim length of outside and shape into a long cove
Glue to base
Small stem
Fast speed gouge to round
Add 8mm tenon
Shape
Round top blank
Cut 20mm diameter protruberance 10mm deep
Gouge in the point
Part a 3mm shoulder
All still protruding.
Hollow out e.g. with thin parting tool
Don't touch shoulder which must stay square
Gouge for outside shaping
Sand, finish, part off.
Reverse into chuck with paper protection
Remove top
Cut a Concave flat
Mark centre
Drill 8mm hole for handle
Glue handle - I hope at least there are some clues in these notes!
